News Reports – Praying and Hoping

I’m sitting in an airport waiting for my flight, surfing the Internet and watching CNN reports of the devastating tornadoes in Missouri.

There was a miraculous story of a family who escaped to a safe room in their house but weren’t able to get the family dog in time.  They prayed and they hoped and they ended up finding the dog about three miles away perfectly fine. The owners thanked God for answering their prayers.

Immediately after this, the next report detailed a missing 3 year old boy… whose family is surely praying and hoping just as hard. And then there was a 16 month old boy found dead in spite of the family’s praying and hoping.

I don’t even think I can comment… just trying to digest the juxtapose of that.

I am a divorced father of 4 children. I'm a post-Mormon. I am a gay man. This blog is my "primal scream" as watch my children faithfully indoctrinated with thought-terminating experiences and mind-lulling pressure... and how my rowboat of reason doesn't stand a chance against the religious and emotional battleship in their daily lives. How do you stand by and watch delusion take hold? Intervention seems to just push them farther into the hypnotic embrace of their mother religion.
